Components for classic cars and military vehicles
We have produced precision engineered components for numerous classic and vintage cars over the years.
Our skilled engineers have cut and ground new gears, machined suspension parts and manufactured steering and other components for classic cars, including a 1920s Austin 7 AC Tourer van, a 1930s Vauxhall type T Grosvenor and 1950s Saab 93s.
Some years ago, we produced a new gear box for a 1910s Napier which subsequently went on to win the London to Brighton classic car race.
This process involved turning, gear cutting, grinding, hardening, final gear grinding and assembly of the gears and transmission compents into the gearbox housing.
Work carried out for classic cars in our Huddersfield workshop has included:

- Steering: We've made a rack and pinion set and linkages for a 1937 BMW 327. This involved turning, milling, gear cutting and gear grinding.
- Suspension: Our engineers, working from worn parts, manufactured front and rear suspension linkages for a 1927 Mercedes Type S Turbo-charged. This involved turning, cutting, milling and slotting.
- Gears: We have done gear-related work on a variety of classic models, including Ford, Alfa Romeo, Chevrolet, MG, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Austin, Morris and Talbot vehicles.
- Brakes: We manufactured new brake drums for an early 1900s Itala car with wooden wheels. This involved turning, boring and milling large blocks of steel to create an exact replica of the original drums.
- Pump gears and oil pumps: For cars made by Invicta, Alvis and Sunbeam
- Shafts and gears: For a classic Bugatti.
On receipt of the worn out or broken component or drawing, our precision engineers can reproduce parts to the exact specification of the original item.
In some cases, we have re-engineered the components so they deliver improved performance and longer life. Our customers range from enthusiasts with one cherished car to organisations who restore numerous classic vehicles. No job is too small or too big.
We feel immense pride knowing we have supplied components which have helped to get a cherished classic car back to working order. As proof of our quality of product and service, we have been dealing with some customers for over 30 years and they’re still coming back for more.
